São Paulo is one of the largest metropolitan areas in the entire world. The "Financial Heart of Brazil" — as it is also known — has over 21,000,000 people! The majority of multinational companies have their national headquarters placed there. According to PricewaterhouseCoopers (an eminent international economic consultant firm), São Paulo is the 10th richest city in the world, and is expected to be the 6th richest in 2025.
That being said, it's easy to realize that the demands related to technology there are many, and that opportunities are endless.
The event is evidently remarkable for Latin America PHP scene. Just a glimpse: +1,200 Participants, 30 Exhibitors, 40 Speakers with 3 simulteneous tracks!
The iMasters (event organizer) and PHPSP (local community) have done a fantastic job selecting high quality speakers and fresh topics like: "Developing Bots in Real Life", "AI and Neural Network", "Leveraging a distributed architecture to your advantage", "Event Sourcing: the good, the bad and the complicated", "IOT powered by PHP and Streams".
The keynode speakers were Marco Pivetta (core contributor to Zend Framework, Symfony, and Doctrine) and Michelangelo van Dam (Leader of @phpbenelux as he travels the world to talk about PHP).
All the talks were recorded, if you speak Portuguese (haha) and want to check them out, just click here.
The PHP community in São Paulo is strong, big, and full of enthusiasm! I talked with several people and yes, we can find incredible Developers down here! Overall the event was greater that I thought it would be and was worthwhile coming.
